Narsapuram: The department of Mathematics, Dr C S Rao PG Centre of Sri YN College, organised a guest lecture on “Ascoli Theorem in Topology – Its relevance” in PG Seminar Hall of the College on Sunday. Prof P Ranga Rao, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Andhra University attended as the resource person and addressed students. G Ranga Babu, Head, department of Mathematics presided over the programme.

Prof Ranga Rao in his address said that the Ascoli Theorem is useful in research and analysis for various complex problems faced by Mathematicians in their fields. He added that the Ascoli Theorem is useful in developing Peano Theorem in differential equations, Montel’s Theorem in complex analysis, Peter Weyl Theorem in harmonic analysis and for developing many more theorems in Mathematics.

He asked students to learn more about Ascoli Theorem for their further and advanced studies in future. With proper understanding of this theory students can develop more theories on their own as researchers and mathematicians. This can also help them to develop their career in Mathematics, especially in teaching profession.

Dr N Chinta Rao, Director, Dr C S Rao PG Centre, Dr D Venkateswara Rao, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre, Prof V Subba Rao, Honorary Professor, G Ranga Babu, Head, department of Mathematics, other faculty members P Chandra Lalitha, P Hemahareswari, S Shiva and PG Mathematics students participated in the programme.
