Visakhapatnam: City orthopaedician Dr S Saibhushan Rao completed his three-month training at Ranavat Orthopaedic Research Foundation in New York, said to be the best in the world in ‘joint replacement surgery’. Saibhushan Rao, who is currently Head of the department of Orthopaedicis, Maharaja College of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram, is the youngest professor in South India, returned to the city on December 31 after completing his training.

In October, 2016, Saibhushan Rao was one of the three persons selected from India. “It was a great experience to work under the world’s best orthopaedic surgeon Rawat who has been teaching the Indian doctors the latest and best in the world,’’ said Saibhushan Rao. He said he learnt robot-assisted surgery for joint-replacement, the latest development in the field and chances of success using this surgery which costs around Rs 3 lakh was more than 95 percent.
