Three-day spectacular air show begins today

Vijayawada: Vijayawada city will host the prestigious Air show from January 12 to 14 and a one-day Aviation Summit-2017 on Thursday.  The chief minister will inaugurate passengers’ terminal at Gannavaram airport on the same day.

As part of improving air connectivity and projecting Amaravati brand at international level, the State government is going to conduct Air show for the first time for three days in Vijayawada city.

 Four helicopters of Britain will be participants in the air show. Air show will be conducted before inaugural session of the summit. Simultaneously, the State government will be conducting Aviation Summit-2017 on January 12 in the city.

 Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju will be chief guests to the summit. The government is planning to have MoUs with various private aviation companies during the summit.

  The government opines that the summit will be useful for promoting intra and intra-State air connectivity services and aero sports activities to boost tourism between places of economic, religious interest to their existing and potential markets.

 The State government is inviting business leaders and market experts to forge new connections and partnerships during this summit.

 On other hand, Chief Minister along with Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju will inaugurate a passenger terminal in Vijayawada airport, which has crossed magic figure of 76 percent in traffic growth rate between April and November, 2016.

The terminal has been built at a cost of Rs 275 crore and the government has acquired 600 acres for the terminal.
