Chittoor: The Chittoor Govt. Homeopathy Dispensary has proved defunct as it is supposed to function every day except on Sundays.
Nobody is there in the district to control or to monitor the Government Dispensaries run by AYUSH ( Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy ). In fact the Government expends huge budget for the maintenance of AYUSH dispensaries.
In Chittoor District , there are 42 Ayurvedic , 32 Homeopathy, 31 Unani and 21 Sidda Dispensaries working under the control of AYUSH .
In recent times, as the Allopathic drugs are said reportedly causing reactions and side effects, many of the patients are preferring to switch over to AYUSH dispensaries.
Though it is mandatory on the part of the AYUSH to run its dispensaries in Government Hospital premises , the Chittoor Govt. Homeopathy Dispensary is situated in a private building at the outskirts of the city.
As a result, the response from the patients to get the treatment from this dispensary is sluggish. There is one medical officer and one compounder in this dispensary.
They open the dispensary at their convenience. If both doctor and compounder are busy, the dispensary is supposed to be closed. It is the responsibility of the medical officer of the Homeopathy dispensary to open it every day except on Sunday and National holidays.
As there is no immediate supervising head at Chittoor, the Homeopathy dispensary is closed often as per the convenience of both the doctor and compounder.
Asked to comment over the frequent closure of Chittoor Government Homeopathy dispensary, DMHO Dr Vijaya Durga expressed her dismay over the ill functioning of the Government Dispensaries in the district “These AYUSH dispensaries are in the purview the Regional Joint Director, AYUSH, Kadapa who is the controlling officer.
If such lapses of Government institutions are brought to the notice of District Collector, the reaction would be very serious. District Collector never entertains such dereliction of duties of Government servants “she added.
It is learnt that both Medical Officer and the compounder have their own adjustments in respect of opening the Government Homeopathy Dispensary reportedly.
