Krishna tops in cockfight cases
Director General of Police (DGP) N Sambasiva Rao on Monday said a total of 1,347 cases were registered on cockfighting using knives during Sankranti festival. Most of the cases were registered on three days of the festival, he added.

The DGP said Krishna district stood top in number of cockfight cases with 471 cases registered under the limits of Krishna Superintendent of Police (SP) jurisdiction and Vijayawada City police commissionerate limits.
He said West Godavari police registered 337 cases, East Godavari 136 cases, Guntur Rural police booked 309 cases and Guntur Urban police registered three cases up to January 15. Police acted according to rules and regulations and followed court directions in registration of cases, he added.
