Vijayawada: Congress Doctor’s Cell State co-chairman Ambati Naga Radhakrishna criticised the decision of Directorate of Medical Education (DME) over blocking the ‘inward and RTI received’ option in its website and said the DME was obstructing public from accessing information over the functioning of the organisation.

In a press release here on Tuesday, Radhakrishna said the people are now being denied to know about the status of their complaints and some other important issues, including information about appointments, enquiry status on corrupt employees, tenders etc.

The act of blocking of RTI option in DME website was clearly obstructing transparency in affairs of the department, he said.

He said people could accesses information under RTI in a transparent manner till recent past.

He also said that the website of AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad was also displaying message that it was under construction. Radhakrishna alleged that the medical department during the Telugu Desam rule was practising secrecy on its functioning.

It was a clear indication that the government was supporting irregularities and corrupt people by practising secrecy blocking the websites and RTI options in some important government departments.
