Hyderabad: The issue of sharing of assets of RTC has come to the fore once again with APSRTC authorities demanding share in 14 buildings.

According to sources, the APSRTC is demanding share in old central office land and new buses parking place, RTC Kala Bhavan and Kalyana Mandapam, land belonging to Transport Academy and hostel, RTC Chairman Building, buildings of three RTC officers at Mettuguda, the small sized vehicle maintenance depot adjacent to Musheerabad-2 depot, Musheerabad dispensary, Kachiguda quarters land, Guest House in Hyderguda, quarters in Chilkalguda and Wind power project established in Ramagiri in Anantapur district, Bus Bhavan, Tarnaka Hospital and Bus Body Building Unit, Miyapur.

The APSRTC had put forward this demand before the joint secretary, Union Home Ministry at a recent meeting saying that the division of assets should be on 52:48 basis.

Opposing this demand, the TSRTC officials said as per Section 52 of the AP Reorganisation Act only the Bus Bhavan should be considered for the purpose since the sharing of assets is an issue that pertains to headquarters and not other properties.

The Telangana officials told the Joint Secretary that only the Bus Bhavan comes under the headquarters assets and they were ready to give the 52 per cent share in monetary form to their AP counterparts.

The Telangana officials say that the assets in Hyderabad belong to the period of Nizams and it was only the Bus Bhavan which was constructed by the government.

As per Section 52 of the AP Reorganisation Act, the assets locally situated in the state belong to the same state and as per the ‘headquarter’ terminology of home department, only Bus Bhavan falls under the category.

In view of the claims and counter claims, the home ministry has decided to meet after a fortnight.
