Tirupati: City MP Dr V Varaprasad held a review meeting with the officials of the Railway Engineering department at railway station here on Tuesday, over possibilities of constructing a bridge at railway gate in Rayalacheruvu.
The railway officials informed the MP that proposed railway over-bridge (ROB) at Rayalacheruvu has to pass through Karnala Street to main branch of State Bank of India via GS Mada Street.
The officials said that proposal may not be feasible as it will become hurdle for Vahana Sevas and Rathostavams at Karnala Street and GS Mada Street.
The rail officials came up with another proposal to construct a railway under-bridge (RUB) for the free vehicular movement.
Later, the MP along with railway officials has inspected the vehicular flow at Rayalacheruvu gate.
Around 2.5 lakh vehicles pass through the gate on an average every day while the gate has to be opened and closed at least 80 times to facilitate the movement of passenger and good trains on the track.
Commuters have to wait for long time when the gate is closed.
Speaking to the media, the MP said that he will take up the issue with Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for speedy approval of proposal to be submitted by railway authorities.
Varaprasad stated that he is giving priority for ROB but exploring possibility of RUB also. The MP thanked the Railway Minister for introducing express train between Shirdi and Vasco da Gama.
He also revealed that the authorities were asked to prepare the estimates to build another RUB at the railway track opposite RTC Bus Complex which will be useful to thousands of commuters.
