Tirupati: A two-day National Vendor Development Programme (NVDP) began here on Monday. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)–Development Institute (DI), Hyderabad is conducting the NVDP. The objective of the NVDP is to create a platform for the small scale industries, public sector undertakings, bankers and other agencies to exhibit and market their products.

Ministry of MSME has made a Public Procurement Policy-2012 mandatory since April, 2015 in which 20 per cent of the procurement of products and services should be availed from the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), out of which 4 per cent should be from the SC/ST MSEs. Nearly 60 MSEs and PSUs have been participating and exhibiting their products and requirements in the NVDP. A technical session, in this connection, was organised to facilitate the products and services to the MSEs by the participating PSUs.

MSME-DI Director Arvind Patwari has inaugurated the expo. Speaking on the occasion, Patwari has briefed the schemes of MSME and requested to avail the same by the MSEs. Indian Bank Zonal Manager P Lakshmi Narayan, Andhra Bank Zonal Manager Krishna Murthy V Varanasi, ZM and DIPC member P Lakshmi Pathi have participated in the inaugural function. Deputy Directors S Vijay Kumar, R Viswanathan and Asst Director B Sreedhar and others were present.
