Hyderabad: National Backward Classes Welfare Association on Saturday demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should increase allocations for BC welfare to Rs 10,000 crore in the AP Budget for 2017-18.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Association president R Krishnaiah said that the demand for introduction of BC Sub-Plan has been pending for several years.

He also demanded opening of 100 more BC welfare hostels, a demand which also has been kept pending for two years.

Krishnaiah requested the government to earmark Rs 2,000 crore for BC Corporation and extend financial assistance to the communities engaged in traditional occupations who lost their livelihood after industrialisation.

The BC Welfare Association also demanded that the AP government should increase mess charges from Rs 2000 to Rs 15,000 to each student studying in the colleges.
