Eluru: TDP coordination committee meeting requested the State government to bear the power bill of Gram Panchayats whose population is below 3000 in the district.

The TDP coordination meeting presided over the district committee president passed a resolution, in this connection, stating that gram panchayats are placed in a precarious financial situation and are not in a position to pay electricity bill.

On account of non-payment of bill, villages in the district were disconnected with power, the meeting averred.

District in-charge Minister Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Peethala Sujatha and legislators from various constituencies attended the meeting.

Also, the meeting suggested the government to change commercial category to domestic category so that the burden of paying energy bill could be passed onto major panchayats.

The meeting also passed a resolution that the urban housing scheme be expanded to Tadepalligudem, Eluru, Bhimavaram, Palacole. It has requested the government to distribute government lands to poor people in the district.
