Peela Srinivasa Rao charged with resisting an arrest

Visakhapatnam: The Pendurthy police registered a case against Peela Srinivasa Rao, TDP state organising secretary and younger brother of Anakapalle MLA Peela Govind Satyanarayana and three others for creating public nuisance near Pulagavanipalem area close to the National Highway. Though the case was filed on Saturday, it came to light only Monday.

The police said three persons were consuming alcohol at Pulagaanipalem and local people called ‘100’ as they were creating nuisance. Three police personnel headed by head constable J Adiniarayana went to the spot and asked them to stop drinking and leave the place immediately. The trio instead of vacating the place entered into a heated argument with the police and called Peela Srinivasa Rao.

Rao went to their aid and resisted an arrest. He told the police that he would bring them to the station. The police refused to oblige him and brought them to the police station. Rao had a heated argument and threatened them to lodge a complaint to the higher officials.

“Initially, we registered a case against the three persons and later following a complaint by the police personnel for resisting arrest, we also registered a case against Peela Srinivasa Rao,” circle inspector of Pendurthy J Murali said.
