She was produced before Pakala Magistrate court on Wednesday, according to official sources. She was sentenced judicial remand but the Chittoor police have requested for police custody for further investigation of the case the source added.

It may be recalled that Sangeetha Chatterjee, former air-hostess was involved in several red sanders smuggling cases in Chittoor district.

The Chittoor police and task force made hectic efforts to arrest for last 18 months but she kept them at bay. She was able to manage the courts of Kolkata in getting the interim bail in order to escape the clutches of Chittoor police during the last eight months.

In a significant move, task force seized gold, silver, documents from her lockers of UCO Bank worth Rs 3 crore. A display of her ornaments has arranged by Chittoor police in which 2.15 kg of gold, 1 kg silver, jewels, documents of three flats besides nine mobiles on June 9, 2016.

She used to maintain personal and professional relations with Lakshman, a notorious red sanders smuggler, who was now lodged in Kadapa central jail. He was arrested by Chittoor police earlier under Preventive Detention Act and shifted to Kadapa Central jail.

Police sources reveal that Lakshman transferred crores of rupees to the account of Sangeetha Chatterjee as her partner in international red sanders smuggling activities during the last three years..
