pilgrim party, at NTR Beach near Surya Rao Peta in Kakinada rural on Thursday. The group are natives of from Kapulapalem village in Tallarevu mandal of East Godavari district.

Of the feared dead two are teen-aged girls and according to eye witness accounts a tidal wave dragged them in to sea waters. Fishermen at the beach rescued four and were shifted to KGGH. The 17-member pilgrim party had darshan of Goddess Nookalamma at Kanda Kota village in Peddapuram mandal and visited the beach on their way home.

Of the nine who stepped in to waters, Seelam Devi (17) Pitani Sreenu (35) Pitani Anita (14) were drowned and their bodies were traced, while Pitani Vamsy (14) P and Pitani Jayakrishna (18]) feared dead.The remaining four; Pitani Ramya (18), Seelam Tanukellamma (40), Medisetty Sambasiva Rao (22) and Seelam Sreenu (18), who were admitted to KGGH wer said to be recovering.
