On Thursday, 44 degree Celsius recorded in pilgrim city, the highest temperature ever recorded in April month in the last 10 years. Even, night temperatures are also touching 27 and 28 degree Celsius.

The officials of the Meteorological department predicted mercury levels would be around 43-45 degree Celsius in this month in Tirupati region. RARS Scientist Dr Prathima said severe heat wave conditions will prevail in the next two months. In March, officials of the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) have indentified 25 spots to set up drinking water distribution centres in the city. But, they failed to set up even a single drinking water distribution centre till now. The police personnel and trade associations have started drinking water distribution centres at some places in the pilgrim city.
