The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided to conduct its annual Mahanadu at Visakhapatnam in the Uttarandhra region from May 27 to 29.  With this, the backward region tucked away on the Odisha borders is poised to host the party’s jamboree after a gap of 12 years, marking the Jayanthi of party founder NT Rama Rao. 

Amaravati: The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided to conduct its annual Mahanadu at Visakhapatnam in the Uttarandhra region from May 27 to 29. With this, the backward region tucked away on the Odisha borders is poised to host the party’s jamboree after a gap of 12 years, marking the Jayanthi of party founder NT Rama Rao.

The temple town of Tirupati hosted the last year’s event.According to party sources, the conclave holds a lot of significance in terms of strengthening the organizational structure and infusing fresh vigour into the party rank and file in the wake of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s talk of early polls.

A sense of alienation reins in the Uttarandhra region following the alleged failure by the ruling party to realize the bifurcation commitment of railway zone with the help of the friendly BJP government at the centre and herald development at a faster pace to wipe out backwardness.

The otherwise sleepy Uttarandhra region shot into the limelight following a campaign launched by Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan, highlighting the plight of kidney patients in Uddanam in Srikakulam district. A source in the party told The Hans India that the next election-eve Mahanadu is likely to be held in Vijayawada with a massive rally.
