Eluru: A 42 year old person attempted suicide at Collectorate in Eluru on Wednesday, as he was allegedly harassed to pay bribe for release loan subsidy According to the statement given to police, Kommina Sudhakara Rao of Tadepalligudem secured a loan of Rs58 lakh loan from Andhra Pradesh State Finance Corporation and constructed a marriage hall in Tadepalligudem.

As he was eligible for subsidy on the same, he along with his wife Esteru Rani approached district industries centre and requested the officials to sanction subsidy amount of Rs 17 lakh. He stated that despite several visits no one paid heed to his requests. Rao alleged that DIC general manager Trimurthulu and deputy director Yesudas demanded a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh.
Though he paid Rs 60,000 to Yesudas, the official demanded full payment.

Depressed with the turn of events, he went to Collectorate, while industries promotion committee meeting was going on and attempted suicide by consuming pesticide.He was rushed to Eluru government hospital and as per latest reports, Rao was out of danger.
