Farmers stall HNSS canal works
Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) canal works were stalled by the farmers in V Kota mandal in the district on Wednesday. Farmers including Srikanth, Ramesh and others belonging to Patrapalli village of V Kota mandal claimed that they have received only part payment of compensation for their lands which were acquired by the revenue authorities for HNSS canal.
Tirupati: Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) canal works were stalled by the farmers in V Kota mandal in the district on Wednesday. Farmers including Srikanth, Ramesh and others belonging to Patrapalli village of V Kota mandal claimed that they have received only part payment of compensation for their lands which were acquired by the revenue authorities for HNSS canal.
Even after a year, they could not get the full payment. Time and again they met the revenue authorities to press for the payment but they could achieve nothing. When they stalled the canal works on Wednesday, revenue staff tried to continue the works with the help of police personnel. Tense situation prevailed between the farmers, revenue officials and police.
Farmers decried that when they lost their lands and seeking the compensation it is unjust to attack them with the help of the police. They made it clear that they will not allow the works to continue until they receive full compensation.
