VMC summer sports coaching camp comes to a close
The One-month long summer sports coaching camps organised by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) had come to a close at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium here on Wednesday. City Mayor Koneru Sridhar and VMC Commissioner J Nivas distributed participation certificates to the participants.

Speaking on the occasion city Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that VMC school’s students excelled not only in education but also in sports. He further said that VMC school’s students P Amritha, P Aparna, K Uma Maheswari have bagged national gold medal in Yoga Dance which was held at Goa and they have been selected for international competitions which will be held at Russia and Colombia.
Two students P Sailaja and Sk Nagul Meera of AKTPM school represented the Andhra Pradesh Throwball teams out of whom P Sailaja was selected for the Indian team. She would participate at the international Throwball championship which will be held at Khatmandu, he added. Later, Mayor Sridhar and Commissioner Nivas presented cash awards of Rs 5,000 to the players who were selected for international championships.
After the closing ceremony guests saw the students’ Yoga talent and praised them. VMC Traffic and Sports chairman Jasti Samba Siva Rao, Education committee chairperson Devineni Aparna, Additional Commissioner D Chandrasekhar, VMC Sports Director G Sekhar, Deputy Educational Officer (DYEO) K Durga Prasasad and others were present.
