Amaravati: Stressing the importance of inclusive and sustainable growth for making AP as one of the top developed state in the country, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asserted that corruption should be eradicated from all levels to ensure the reach of welfare schemes.

Addressing Collectors’ conference in Vijayawada on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that AP should be one of the top states by 2022. Expressing confidence that the target can be achieved, he added that state was on track to reach top position by 2029 and by 2050 it would be a destination of progress in the world.

He called for the inclusion of people in developmental programmes. He asked the collectors to adopt ‘people first’ concept and implement it at all levels from June 1. Noting that corruption has become a main hurdle for downtrodden to reap benefits of welfare schemes, Naidu called upon collectors to ensure corruption-free administration.

The Chief Minister instructed collectors to give priority to people and win their satisfaction.He lamented that primary education sector was lagging behind and still the government was unable to bring children to school. He stressed the need for coordination between several departments for successful implementation of government policies.

“We are observing Navanirmana Deeksha on June 2 for the past three years. On June 8 we are taking Mahasankalpam. We have to review department-wise progress during this one week, which will make us to look back our achievements and also future goals,” Naidu said.

Naidu informed that AP is the only state following the global methodology to assess happiness levels of people. “As per World Happiness Report – 2017 India is placed at 122 position out of 155 countries, whereas AP is equivalent to 74 position globally with a happiness score of 5,368,” he added.

He said that Srikakulam topped in happiness index followed by West Godavari, Krishna, Nellore, East Godavari, Guntur and Vizianagaram districts. The Chief Minister said despite of deficit rain fall, the state achieved remarkable growth in several sectors.

He said that horticulture sector achieved a growth rate of 16.8 per cent, livestock 12.2 per cent, fishing 30.1 per cent, mining 12.9 per cent, manufacturing 10.4 per cent, electricity 12.5 per cent, transport 10.4 per cent, real estate 10.4 per cent and public administration 10.8 per cent. “My vision is to make AP one of the best developed state in the world, which will become reality if everyone works hard,” he opined.
