Visakhapatnam: Much to the surprise of the delegates and local leaders there was no representation from Nandamuri family at the three-day Mahanadu which had a grand opening at the AU Engineering College Grounds here on Saturday.

Most importantly Hindupuram MLA and TDP politburo member Nandamuri Balakrishna skipped the inaugural session in which every leader had highlighted his father and founder of the party NT Rama Rao.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Large number of party activists expected that film star
  • and Hindupur MLA N Balakrishna would attend the inaugural session
  • They were surprised by his absence
  • TDP politburo member N Harikrishna is reportedly upset over not receiving proper communication from the party
  • Some TS TDP leaders suggested that Jr NTR should be given a prominent post in TS as he was born in Hyderabad

“A large number of party workers anticipated a lot about Balakrishna’s presence in the inaugural session. He could have been the most attractive delegate at the plenary session. Only Babu and China Babu can explain his absence,” said a Minister from Vizag.

The older sibling Harikrishna too was absent. Party sources said he has already sent feelers about his unwillingness to join the annual plenary -Mahanadu, as nobody was in touch with him from the party.
He expressed a kind of dissent, with his close associates very recently that the TDP leadership has been conveniently ignoring him, especially since the last one year.

Former Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna’s silence for the last few months has led to a discussion within the TDP, some two weeks ago. It is learnt that Harikrishna was annoyed as there was no proper communication from the party, about various developments related to the politburo.

Sources said he was disturbed when Number two man in the government Nara Lokesh commented on Jr NTR that there was no part time business in the party. “Since nobody is in touch with me why should I attend Mahanadu,’’ Harikrishna told his friends recently.

Some of the Telangana leaders suggested that Jr NTR should be given a prominent post in Telangana State since he was born in Hyderabad.
