Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched Limitless Electric Bikes for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on his third leg of visit to the city as a part of Mahanadu event here on Monday.Thus, the GVMC has earned a distinction of becoming India’s first Municipal Corporation to deploy mass electric two-wheeler mobility system which is more economical and emission-free and as the first of its kind initiative.

The GVMC will provide these vehicles to its sanitary supervisors for daily supervision and patrol. The Limitless e-Bikes were being supplied to the State government by the electric vehicle manufacturing start-up unit-Gayam Motor Works (GMW). After launching the new vehicle, the CM enquired about its features with the company representatives before taking it for a short ride.

The Limitless Electric Bikes have been designed in two variants for easy and effortless riding. The unique combination of smart pedal assist system, high performance battery and a throttle makes it incredibly easy to start. The e-bikes come with a detachable battery that can be fully charged within two and a half hours and picks up with 25 kmph in five seconds. Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation also planning to introduce Public Bicycle Sharing system as part of its Smart City initiatives to promote zero emission clean transportation.

The State Government is also planning to implement similar system in city like Amaravati and Tirupati. H R D Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, IT Minister N Lokesh, Collector Pravin Kumar, Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan and Commissioner of Police T Yoganand were also present at the launch at the Port guest house.
