  • Victim Chakali Ramudu says Sub-Registrar Ramana Rao kept original documents with him for more than 3 months
  • Alleges Sub-Registrar did not inform him that land which he had purchased was already registered

The victim Chakali Ramudu had purchased plot no. 43 under survey numbers 128 and 340 near radio station which falls under the jurisdiction of Kallur Sub-Registrar office from one Rajam Srinivasulu of Kurnool city. Chakali Ramudu along with Rajam Srinivasulu went to Kallur Sub-Registrar’s office on February 23, 2017.Ramudu alleged that Sub-Registrar, who took the documents from him for scrutiny, did not return them to him immediately.

Despite his repeated requests with the Sub-Registrar to let him know about the discrepancies arising out of the sale of housing plot, the latter has neither revealed the discrepancies nor returned the registered documents to him. After a period of two months, the Sub-Registrar returned the documents to Ramudu on May 26, 2017 without giving reasons why he kept the documents with him for such a long time.

The victim said that he came to know that the same plot purchased by him was registered on the name of some other person on March 4, 2017 by the same Sub-Registrar by allegedly accepting huge amount of bribe. Ramudu wondered as to how the same plot could be registered in the name of two persons. He also alleged that the seller Rajam Srinivasulu had pasted fake photograph on the Aadhaar card bearing number 3095 4747 5666.

The victim said that he would not have paid the amount to Rajam Srinivasulu if the Sub-Registrar had cautioned him about the shady deal. When The Hans India approached the Kallur Sub- Registrar SV Ramana Rao to clarify regarding the bogus registration, he simply said that some mistakes might have taken place.

“We may not take care of each and every document as we have to go through 60 to 70 registrations every day. It may not be possible for us to check every document,” he added. Ramudu alleged that there was something fishy about the role of the Sub-Registrar in the registration of documents. The victim sought justice from the higher officials concerned and demanded action against Sub-Registrar.
