Tirupati: Chittoor District Collector PS Pradyumna said that district administration will start homes for orphan children in Chittoor and Tirupati and other municipal towns soon. The Collector participated as chief guest in a novel programme- orphan and street children school joining- which was conducted by Tirupati Urban police here on Friday.

On this occasion the Collector, addressing the gathering stated that with the cooperation of police, ICDS and women welfare department the district authorities are going to organise awareness camps across the district to eradicate begging by orphan and street children. The Collector praised the street and orphan children school joining activity taken up by the Tirupati Urban Police.

SP R Jayalakshmi addressing the function said that police Mahila and Bala Rakshak teams have identified 254 orphans and economically poor children. “As part of prevention of crimes on children police department has conducted a survey and picked up the street and orphan children from their habitations to join the school for good future”, the SP said.

Our department personnel has identified children who are working in hazardous works like brick industry, wine shops, hotels etc, SP added. If district administration supports this activity we will join some more orphan children into schools, she affirmed.
