Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee demanded State government to control exorbitant fees in private schools. In a press release here on Saturday, Committee president Sunkara Padmasree said the private schools in the State have been collecting excusive fees in the form of admission fees, special fees, tuition fees and corpus fund. They were also collecting additional fees for books, uniforms and computer education.

Some non-recognised schools in slum areas were also collecting above Rs 15,000 for nursery education in cities such as Vijayawada, she said. With school education became a costly affair in the State, lower, middle and even upper middle class families also suffering with the exorbitant hike in school fees, she said.

However, the State government and school education department confined to making statements on taking action private schools as they enjoys political support, she alleged. “Despite State government’s directives to exhibit fee particulars at the schools, no private school is following the orders” Padmasree alleged. She said they had already submitted a memorandum to district administration seeking action on schools in Krishna district.
