Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths of Central Investigation Unit (CIU) netted a big fish in stamps and registration department. Doddapaneni Venkaiah Naidu working as sub-registrar of Gajuwaka was caught on Monday for possessing disproportionate assets against his income sources.

According to ACB sleuths, the document value of the accused’s official properties including cash, gold, lands and houses, is over Rs six crore and the market value of the assets are estimated to be more than Rs 75 crore. 55-year-old Venkaiah Naidu joined the department in 1995 as a group-II officer.
He worked as sub-registrar in Nellimarla, Narsipatnam, Gajuwaka, Lankelapalem, Dwaraka Nagar, Amadalavalasa and Madhurwada, which are important places as prime lands registered in those offices.The ACB officials are of suspicion that that the official may have played a vital role in the multi-crore land scam in the city.
The accused has amassed illegal assets worth crores by accepting huge bribes for doing favours such as registration of litigation lands with fake documents.The officials seized the assets from his possession and his kith and kin. He also kept some of the property in the name of his first wife, who is divorced, but stays in the same house with him.
Director general of ACB RP Thakur said that the raids were simultaneously conducted at 11 places, including Visakhapatnam and Chittoor. The accused is currently residing in a fully-furnished modern flat in the city. Further investigation is on.
The seized assets of the official include; fully-furnished apartment at Maharanipeta, a plot measuring 413 sq yards at Kapulappada, two plots measuring 1,130 sq yds at Narava, 1,120 sq yds plot at Jaggayyapalem, a commercial plot of 4 acres at Narava, gold ornaments weighing 1.75 kg, silver ornaments weighing 1.3 kg, Rs 6.42 lakh in cash and others.
