Atmakuru: The Siddapuram Lift-Irrigation project is 90 per cent ready and is bracing up for completion soon. In August, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will release water from the lift irrigation project for the benefit of farmers.

Disclosing this to The Hans India on Monday, Budda Rajasekhara Reddy, who crossed over to the TDP from YSRCP on April 28 last year, said that the allocation to the project has been revised to Rs 200 crore and works are being executed on a war-footing.

The Siddapuram tank will be filled with water drawing two tmc from Velugodu reservoir. The water will be lift-irrigated for the benefit of the farmers. Currently, approach canal, pumping stations, electric sub-stations and other related works have been through by 90 per cent.

Laying of a major pipeline for a length of 8 km has been completed in the Nallamala region. The day for irrigating at least 23,000 acres in Atmakuru region by filling 10 tanks with water drawn from Siddapuram tank is not far away. Chandrababu Naidu enquired from Budda Rajasekhara Reddy on the progress of the lift-irrigation scheme as he is scheduled to visit Tangedancha near Nandikotkuru on June 21 to perform bhumi puja for the Jain seeds processing unit.

The lift-irrigation scheme is the brainchild of Rajasekhara Reddy’s father Budda Vengal Reddy. Rajasekhara Reddy said that he could show remarkable progress in the project’s execution during the last one year deriving inspiration from his father.
