The bus fell into a culvert on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway with the injured passengers getting stuck for over four hours as the rescue teams struggled to remove the bodies.

Owned by the family of TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy, the travel company didn't face a case instead the dead bus driver was booked for the accident.

However, an advocate, KV Subba Reddy filed a PIL and the High Court demanded a response from the prinicipal secretaries of the labour and transport departments.

The principal secretary of the transport department filed an affidavit giving a clean chit to the bus and the travel company - Diwakar Travels, stating that all the provisions of the Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961, were met along with all the safety standards.
