Addressing the media conference at Bhimavaram I Town police station on Monday, Ravi Prakash while describing the incident as “sensitive”, urged the people to cooperate with police in carrying out the investigation. Already SC ST wing DSP N Muralikrishna has started an investigation into this incident,

he said and expressed concern that some people were posting distorted facts about the incident in social media which would encourage anti-social elements. He denied that police had not allowed leaders into the village. To a question on the directions of National SC, ST Commission member K Ramulu to arrest the accused in 24 hours,

the SP said that there were several castes involved in the incident and in view of the situation, a thorough enquiry would be held in two or three days and report would be submitted. He said police have to record statements from 50 to 60 people of the village and so far 16 persons gave statements. Narsapur DSP G Poornachandra Rao and Bhimavaram CI Desimsetty Venkateswara Rao participated in the media conference.
