Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sought British High Commissioner Sir Dominic Asquith’s cooperation to ensure that more British companies to partner with the state government.

The British High Commissioner met Chief Minister at Secretariat in Velagapudi on Wednesday and held discussions over interests of British companies to invest in the city of Amaravati.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the British firms Foster + Partners, TransStadia, one of the largest water treatment companies from Britain and others.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness with the partnership with Foster+ Partners in many infrastructure projects, and hopes that the firm would continue to support building the city of Amaravati.

Officials from TransStadia also discussed with the Chief Minister regarding set up of a convention centre in Amaravati, similar to StadiArena, recently completed in Ahmedabad.

The proposal included facilities for around 60 sporting activities, and an indoor arena that seats 4,000 people. The Chief Minister asked the officials to coordinate with the state government to finalise the land allocation at the earliest, so that work can be commenced.

“Amaravati should host one of the Olympics in the future. I am sure StadiArena will make that come true Andhra Pradesh has been the home to many sports legends of India. And I want to provide the youth with the best coaching facilities to compete worldwide,” Naidu asserted.

Later, Asquith visited Assembly where Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao explained to him the specialties and new facilities in Assembly and council. The High Commissioner enquired the Speaker about the way both the Houses are convened.
