Pattiseema fails to instil confidence in farmers
Farmers are expressing fears to start advanced kharif in June, as they have doubts whether the government could able to release sufficient from the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS). If they did not get sufficient water, they would have to face lot of problems and depend on Nagarjuna Sagar, which has scanty reserves.

They are waiting to start cultivation in August like last year, as they are hopeful of getting water from Nagarjuna Sagar.
Farmers in Krishna western delta region of Guntur will start seed bed works from August fist week. However, this year the government released water in advance, courtesy PLIS on June.28.
Irked at government’s move to release water without prior intimation, the farmers said that they require two weeks time to prepare seed beds. Meanwhile, officials are of opinion that if farmers will start direct sowing operations now, they will harvest before October 15 and the crop will be saved from cyclone threat.
Speakinig to The Hans India, D Eswaraiah a farmer in Kolakalur village of Tenali mandal said that the government should have announced water releasing date in advance to enable farmers prepare for advanced kharif. “Last year we have suffered crop loss caused by heavy rains in September.
If we go for advanced kharif, we may have to this problem,” he lamented.Another farmer V Venkateswara Rao of Vadlamudi village near Tenali said that some farmers still were unsure of water release. “If we start cultivation in July end, there is chance to get Nagarjuna Sagar water. If we harvest the crop in November, we will be ready for black gram or green gram in December,” he added.
