The Indian Navy Handball Championship 2017-18, which is being held from July 10 at Fleet Sports Complex, concluded here on Friday. The championship was conducted by the Eastern Naval Command and Indian Navy Sports Control Board. Teams from the Eastern, Western and Southern Naval Commands participated in the event.

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Navy Handball Championship 2017-18, which is being held from July 10 at Fleet Sports Complex, concluded here on Friday. The championship was conducted by the Eastern Naval Command and Indian Navy Sports Control Board. Teams from the Eastern, Western and Southern Naval Commands participated in the event.

The championship was conducted on a league-cum-knock out basis and aimed at selecting outstanding players for representing the Indian Navy in handball. Five matches were played. The event helps in popularising handball and generates better acumen and sportsmen spirit in this high intensity sport.

In a closely contested finals between Eastern Naval Command team and Southern Naval Command (SNC) team, SNC team emerged as winner by 24 goals to 23 and was adjudged the winner of the Indian Navy Handball Championship 2017-18.

Chief Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration) ENC Rear Admiral Deepak Kapoor was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and gave away medals to winning players and trophies to the winner and runners-up teams.
