Visakhapatnam: The city police have found vital clues into the murder of 47 -year- old businessman Vikram Dhamija and took two individuals into custody for questioning.

According to sources, the Three Town police late on Thursday day night took into custody, the supervisor of Sea Surf Apartment where Dhamija lived with his family and his friend who helped in executing the plan. Both men allegedly hired professionals from Jharkhand to extract money from Dhamija but the scheme failed after they faced stiff resistance from the victim.

The supervisor, whose name was not revealed, became bankrupt in his chit fund business and real estate joined the apartment for his living He was also in deep debts and has been chalking out plans to make quick money. He along with his friend hatched a plan to take away gold ornaments and cash from Vikram by employing professionals from Jharkhand.

A top official in the police department said CCTV footage at the apartment’s cellar area had given them a vital clue in suspecting the role of the apartment supervisor.

After striking a deal, the professionals came to city on July 14 and conducted a dry run of the apartment and surroundings. On July 17, they entered Vikram’s house posing as Income Tax officials and whipped out a toy pistol and knives demanding money and gold.

When Vikram refused to budge, the assailants first stabbed his driver Janardhan who tried to run out of the flat to inform police. Later, Vikram tried to intervene but he too was stabbed multiple times. His wife Jyoti was also injured when she came to rescue her husband.The official said they sent several teams to Jharkhand to track down the killers.
