Kakinada: The contract-based sanitary workers of Kakinada Government General Hospital(KGGH) staged a dharna at mother and child statue on hospital premises on Wednesday demanding immediate release of their pending wages for three months. They also demanded for wage revision applicable from August of this year without delay.

Sanitary Workers Union president Ch Ajay Kumar and CITU Kakinada unit secretary P Veerababu urged the hospital authorities to initiate measures for regular credit of PF and ESI to these 200 employees on contract basis. They also demanded for immediate release of bonus payable to these sections along with pending wages.

When contacted, KGGH Superintendent Dr M Raghavendra Rao said that all these workers come under third-party contract and the concerned contractor had to pay the dues. The superintendent also made it clear that the hospital authorities are no way concerned with the issue.
