Kapu JAC leaders put under house arrest
Several Kapu JAC and Kapu Mahanadu leaders were house arrested here on Wednesday for joining the Chalo Amaravati Walkathon. Kakinada: Several Kapu JAC and Kapu Mahanadu leaders were house arrested here on Wednesday for joining the Chalo Amaravati Walkathon. Basava Prakhakar Rao and PCC East Godavari unit president Pantam Venkateswara Rao alias Nanaji too were confined to 24-hour house arrest in Kakinada city.
The other detained leaders were GVV Satyanaratana of Kovvada and Mummidi Rambabu of Ganganapapalli in Kakinada rural.
Advocates affiliated to Kapu JAC submitted a memorandum to Collector Kartikeya Mishra at the collectorate seeking implementation of reservations to Kapus.
Meanwhile East Godavari BC Welfare Association leaders staged a protest at Jyotirao Phule statue near Kakinada Government General Hospital against the extension of BC status to Kapus.
When contacted East Godavari SP Vishal Gunni said the decision on extension of house arrests will be taken on Thursday morning after taking stock of the situation in Kirlampudi, Amalapuram and other areas in the district.
