Eluru: The web counselling for the transfer of teachers that started a week ago was abruptly stopped here on Thursday following the technical problem. The Education Department started the teachers transfers through web counselling in the district a week ago and completed the counselling for Head Masters and School Assistants as per the schedule.

As per the schedule, the officials have started the web counselling for Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT) on Thursday. Around 250 SGTs have reached Eluru from all over the district to exercise their options for transfer. However, the officials announced that the web counselling was postponed to Friday due to a server problem.

About 7,000 teachers in all cadres have applied for the transfers all over the district. Out of which, about 3,000 teachers’ transfers have completed through web counselling. The West Godavari was ahead of all districts in the State for web counselling while some other districts were far behind the schedule.

Due to this reason, the Education Department has decided to stop the teachers transfers counselling in West Godavari to complete all districts at a time. So far, 200 Head Masters, 155 Low female literacy schools (LFL) Headmasters, 775 Mathematics teachers, 225 Physical Science, 394 Natural Science, 475 Social, 500 English, 190 Physical Directors, 14 PETs, 280 Telugu, 280 Hindi and 25 Sanskrit teachers’ transfers have completed.

When contacted District Educational Officer RS Ganga Bhavani said the web counselling for the SGTs transfers was postponed to Friday following the server problem. She said the counselling would be taken up for SGTs and Language Pandits on Friday.
