Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) began weekend entertainment programme in collaboration with Bengaluru-based Freakouts Adventure Solutions Private Limited at Sitanagaram rock, which is very close to the Prakasam Barrage in Guntur district, on Saturday. APTDC desires to attract tourists and creating awareness on adventure sports and make Vijayawada an adventure sports hub.

APTDC desires to attract tourists and creating awareness on adventure sports and make Vijayawada an adventure sports hub.

APTDC ties up with Freakouts Adventure Solutions Private Limited and started a two-day rock rappelling and climbing activities. Freakouts Adventure has been providing total equipment and encouraging adventure sports.
On a pilot basis, the adventure sports began at Sitanagaram rock hill and APTDC Managing Director Himanshu Sukla participated in rappelling after inaugurating the event.
Freakouts Organisation appointed three-members as instructors and giving training in rappelling, climbing and jumping activities at Sitanagaram.
Speaking on the occasion, APTDC MD Himanshu Sukla said that the state government is focusing on tourism development and developing several centres as tourist hubs.
The state government is giving top priority to adventure sports and creating awareness among the people, he said. APTDC and Freakouts are jointly organising adventure sports at Sitanagaram and Kondapalli Fort, he added.
“Union government and state government are spending Rs 1,000 crore on developing the tourist spots and adventure sports in all 13 districts of the state. Union government allotted Rs 400 crore for four-projects and two of them are in progress” he said.
He further stated that after the state bifurcation number of domestic tourists has been increased in the state by 19 per cent.
Meanwhile, Freakouts Organisation is constructing 100 metres artificial hill at Bahavani Island and it will be completed by August 31.
For the first time in the country, artificial hill is being constructed in Vijayawada and with this city becomes a tourist hub, he felt. The state government and APTDC would develop Buddhist Circuit in the state, he added.
Later, he informed that APTDC is talking with Srilanka Airlines and Emirates Airlines for operating the international flights from Gannavaram airport to attract international tourists.
Gannavaram airport had international standards and the state government is planning to operate international flights from here, he said. Moreover, he said that APTDC would develop Suryalanka beach on par with the RK beach in Visakhapatnam,
APTDC Vijayawada Division Manager VVS Ganga Raju, Freakouts instructors Ravula Shyam and others participated.
