Visakhapatnam: Collector Pravin Kumar said the country would be on a progress path when youth have service mind, access to quality education coupled with good health.

District Youth Affairs department conducted the International Youth Day on ‘Youth for Building Peace’ theme at VUDA Children Theatre on Saturday. Young people are agents of change in conflict prevention and sustaining peace.

The International Youth Day is dedicated to celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace. The Collector released a poster on the same theme. Joint Collector G Srujana and other officials took part in the celebrations, along with scores of students, from several schools and colleges.

In another event, the NSS Unit of St. Joseph’s College for Women celebrated the day in a befitting manner on the college premises. Dr Manikya Kumari said that youth should be agents of change and their participation in economic, political and social spheres would help the nations to maintain peace in the world.

Principal Sis. Shyji said that any change in society is possible only through young people since they are the torch bearers of future.
