Chittoor: Though the government celebrated the state-level Independence Day Celebrations at Tirupati in a historic way, the TDP leaders from the district are expressing their ire against the Chief Minister for not making any announcement over the development of Chittoor.

Highlights:

  • TDP leaders feel Chandrababu Naidu’s entire speech is confined to the development of Tirupati and Kuppam constituencies except Chittoor
  • Industries Minister Amaranatha Reddy is interested to develop only Palamaner and Punganur constituencies, opine party leaders

Addressing the public meeting held at Tarakarama Stadium in Tirupati, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu explained the significance of Chittoor district in various fronts, reiterating that he would develop Tirupati as Smart City Plus. It is really surprised that the Chief Minister did not make any statement about the prospects of Chittoor city.

His entire speech was confined to the development of Tirupati and other parts of district excluding Chittoor. Except explaining the reasons for holding the state-level event at Tirupati, Naidu did not show any interest in developing Chittoor city in his prolonged speech, the leaders felt. It is clearly evident that the Chief Minister has been focusing his entire attention only on the development of Tirupati and Kuppam constituencies.

Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy is said to be interested in developing his own constituency Palamaner and his native constituency Punganur. Besides, he set a goal to win all the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district in the ensuing elections.

All the official programmes related to district headquarters are being held at Tirupati ignoring Chittoor, the TDP leaders ridiculed. It is strongly believed that the Chief Minister would declare the government’s plan for diverting HNSS water to Chittoor city as it is plagued with acute drinking water problem.

NTR Jalasayam, the lone drinking water source is already dried up. The Chittoor Municipal Corporation is yet to find the ways and means for searching alternative source for drinking water problem of the city.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, Chittoor TDP MP Dr N Sivaprasad felt that it would have been a better opportunity for the development of Chittoor city if state-level Independence Day celebrations were held here.
