Inaugurating the newly-built AP Police Headquarters building at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Wednesday, he wanted police to adopt advanced technology and make AP crime-free.

The Chief Minister said that the government would support the police department in acquiring latest equipment for maintaining law and order in the state. “We will provide free health check-up to every police personnel. We will also provide housing scheme to them,” he announced.

Appreciating DGP N Sambasiva Rao for his efforts in building police headquarters with in a span of one year, Naidu quipped that the building looks like a corporate office. “I want to grab this building from police department and shift my office here,” he said in a lighter vein and added that the office setting would create a cordial atmosphere so that people can experience friendly policing. Referring to the mock drill conducted by Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (Octopus) personnel at the venue earlier, he said the latest technology adopted by Octopus would help in facing any kind of terrorist activities in the state.

“I feel confident that AP is safe after seeing the greyhounds and Octopus. We can feel proud that AP got 52 meritorious awards out of total 192 awards across the country, presented during Independence Day in New Delhi,” he recalled.

Naidu also appreciated the police and other officials for their collective efforts in rescuing a child safely from an open borewell in Vinukonda of Guntur district on Tuesday. The collective efforts from all departments will be more helpful to the people in all means, he observed.

After the inauguration of the new building Chief Minister was given a power point presentation by the DGP on the advanced features in the new police headquarters, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore. The new five storeyed police headquarters, houses CBCID office and DGP office, apart from offices of other police wings.

Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, home minister N Chinarajappa, ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Paritala Sunitha and others were present.
