Kakinada: YSRC leader Ummareddy lamented that in TDP rule, development remained on papers. Speaking ata press conference, hereon Tuesday,he charged TDP with failing on all aspects.

“If the Chief Minister insisted for Special Category Status (SCS) instead of taking Special Package, it would have been a different story. Many industries would have come up providing employment. All 11 states which are enjoying special status got extension for 10 more years,” he noted.

Ummareddy pointed out that debt waived by government was only Rs 11,000 crore, the debts to be waived off were Rs 87,612 crores, according to Bankers Committee report. “Total cultivable land in state is reduced to 7 lakh hectares. Debt waiver for farmers and self-help groups is a gimmick,” he said.

He accused that the government increased the estimations of Polavaram project for the benefit of contractors and the progress of works were not satisfactory. “The deaths of 29 devotees in Godavari Pushkaralu is the best example of government’s failure. Nobody has any idea about the committee’s report. Kapu community is dissatisfied with the government’s attitude,” he noted.
