Visakhapatnam: With strong criticism on the officials, the members of the Zilla Parishad alleged that the officials are not caring the elected representatives. The members also charged the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials are not responding on the complaints against the land encroachments and record tampering cases. The meeting unanimously passed a resolution and urged the government to announce Visakhapatnam as a drought-hit district.

The general body meeting of Zilla Parishad chaired by Chairperson L Bhavani was held on Wednesday. Ministers Ch Ayyannapatrudu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, District In-Charge Minister and Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa and Collector Pravin Kumar did not attend the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting several ZPTCs alleged that the SIT officials are not responding on the complaints registered at the SIT office. Even presented the evidences on their allegations, the SIT officials are not inquiring into the land encroachment and tampering of the land records.

ZPTC Munagapaka L Satyanarayana alleged that the 800 acres of government land at Madapaka village was encroached by the private persons. Though a complaint with all the evidences was lodged with SIT with 157/2017 number, there was no action so far. In Mungapaka mandal, five local tanks were disappeared and no official inquiring into the scam, the ZPTC lamented. The other members also alleged and expressed their doubts on the SIT inquiry.

MLA Anakapalle, P Govind Satyanarayana urged the chair to announce the district as a drought-hit district. Even in the last week of August, there are no rains in the district. All other members also supporting the MLA urged the chair to write a letter to the government urging to announce Visakhapatnam as drought-hit district.

Responding to the members demand, chairperson L Bhavani said a proposal would be send to government in this regard.Earlier, all the members and officials paid floral tributes to Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu to mark his 145th birth anniversary.
