VMC school playgrounds to get facelift
Department of municipal administration and urban development has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for the development of playgrounds in 13 Vijayawada municipal corporation grounds. Besides, Rs 6 lakh was also sanctioned to purchase sports and playing equipment for the VMC schools.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar on Wednesday conducted a meeting with the officials of education and other departments at his chambers and discussed the development of playgrounds in the city.
He announced that VMC would sanction Rs 3 lakh for purchasing playing equipment and asked the officials to purchase sports and playing equipment for Rs 9 lakh. He said the VMC is according top priority to promote sports and encourage the children studying in VMC schools.
He suggested to the teachers to create awareness among the parents about the importance of sports and games for the children.
