3 brothels raided; 5 pimps, 12 sex workers arrested
The She teams conducted raids on three brothel houses and nabbed 5 pimps and 12 sex workers here on Monday and seized 20 mobile phones, one car and an auto-rickshaw from them. The accused were brought before the media in the presence of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Ravi Prakash at II town police station.

Speaking to the media, Ravi Prakash said District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetti had formed ‘She Teams’ to protect the women from falling prey to eve teasers and luring into flesh trade. ‘She Teams’ were formed at Kurnool, Adoni, Nandyal, Dhone, Allagadda and Atmakur to ensure security to women.
On a tip-off, the women police personnel raided brothel houses at various places in the district. They found five sex workers aged about 14 to 16 years including four from other states. The police official said three lodges in Kurnool are also being used for prostitution. “We will initiate stringent action against the pimps,” stated OSD. On the occasion, Ravi Prakash asked the house owners not to rent their houses to unknown persons.
He advised the youth not to spoil their future by falling prey to brothel houses. The OSD made an appeal to people to inform police by dialing 100 about brothel houses and eve teasers. He assured them that their information would be not be made public. DSP M Venkatadri and other police staff were present.
