Visakhapatnam: Minister for IT Nara Lokesh said that the government has been striving hard to create one lakh jobs in IT sector and two lakh jobs in electronics sector by next year. He visited Kappuluppada in Visakhapatnam on Monday and inspected layout works underway.

“In the first phase, 250 acres will be developed with all facilities and will mbe given to IT firms for starting their operations,” he said and adding that many companies have evinced interest to set up their offices in Vizag.

He listed out companies that have set up units in the state which includes South Korea-based Kia Motors in Anantapur, Celkon plant in Renigunta. “In the coming November, Dixon firm will become functional. Apart from this, another 30 companies will start their units in Andhra Pradesh,” he disclosed.

According to the IT minister, deadlines were given to the companies which received land through APIIC. “The companies which failed to start their operations are being persuaded to re-launch. Schemes like rental subsidy, occupation guarantee are being implemented to encourage industrialists and entrepreneurs,” he announced.

Lokesh reminded that despite reeling under the deficit budget of Rs 16,000 crore, the government has been going extra mile to implement all schemes and development works. IT principal secretary Vijayanand, IT adviser JA Chowdary, APIIC CE Prasad and others were present.
