Vijayawada: Senior Congress leader and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijaya Singh said that he should not be held responsible for state bifurcation, as he acted according to party high command directions.

Participating in a meeting with party leaders at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Tuesday, he called the rank and file of the party to strength their base in the state.

He flayed TDP and YSRC for spending huge sum of money in the recent Nandyal by-election. He asked the leaders need not to take the election result into consideration as well as party’s performance. On this occasion, several senior leaders reviewed the membership drive.

They discussed the recent Nandyal by-election and party candidate performance. The leaders unanimously passed
a resolution to strengthen party base in grass root levels for next election. The meeting has taken decision to revive the support from downtrodden. Party observer Muniyappa, PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, former union minister Pallam Raju and other senior leaders were present.
