Kadapa: Swachhandra Mission Executive Vice-chairman Dr PL Rao on Sunday said the government has set a target of constructing 29 lakh individual latrines by October 2018 across the State.
Launching the Central government sponsored Swatcha thahi programme at Old Collector’s office premises in Kadapa town here, he urged the Panchayath Raj, Swachhandra Mission, Education department and Municipal corporation to extend their support for completing the project in a time bound manner.
Following the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the students who were pursuing higher studies should be given 5 per cent of weightage marks if they extend their cooperation in the proposed project.
He directed the Education department officials to conduct awareness camps in the villages for involving students in the programme.
