Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas cleaned the premises of Government General Hospital here on Sunday as part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme.

Vijayawada: Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas cleaned the premises of Government General Hospital here on Sunday as part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the programme was held to mark birthday of Viswakarma. He said the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi also coincided with that of Viswakarma. In order to keep the premises clean, the programme was started on September 15. It would last till Gandhi Jayanti. Hospitals, schools, government offices and other places would be cleaned during this period, he added.

The Minister personally took part in plucking out useless vegetation on the hospital premises. He suggested the hospital officials to arrange benches on the grass in front of the hospital for the comfort of patients and their attendants.

Kamineni distributed sweets and celebrated Modi’s birthday. Local corporator D Amarna, hospital superintendent Chakradhar, his deputy Bheemeswar, RMO Nayak, Nursing College superintendent Padmavati and others were present.
