Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government of India has released Rs. 3350 crores for Polavaram project and will give additional amount of Rs. 3850 crores soon for the national project.

Amravati (Andhra Pradesh): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government of India has released Rs. 3350 crores for Polavaram project and will give additional amount of Rs. 3850 crores soon for the national project.

"Rs. 32000 crores are needed only for the displaced and for acquiring lands in the estimated total cost of Rs. 50,000 crores," he added.

The Chief Minister yesterday visited the site and monitored Polavaram project works.

While lauding the Central Government's cooperation, he opined that Polavaram can be the biggest project.

Chief Minister Naidu reminded that he held reviews 53 times, and visited the site 18 times in person.

He also said that 40 gates are ready as of now and icon construction will be started in October.

Chief Minsiter Naidu also asked the officials to work hard to finish off the project by 2018.

He further said that his government is trying to complete 28 irrigation projects in next 100 days.

Minister for water resources Devineni Umamaheawar Rao, endowments minister Paidikondala Manikyala Rao, West Godavari district collector K Bhaskar Rao and other officials were also present with him.
