Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju, along with the residents, who are agitating to cancel the licence to Ashoka Wines, visited the place here on Tuesday where the shop would be set up.

At the site where the shop was proposed to set up there is an educational institution located in less than 100 metres. Sri Venkateswara High School at Santhosh Nagar, Kailasapuram Main Road was established three decades ago. The locals particularly women are demanding the excise department to cancel permission for setting up of the wine shop in their locality.

Recently, the MLA also met the Chief Minister and urged him close three wine shops and one bar and restaurant located in his constituency. In which the proposed Ashoka Wines is also there. The MLA, along with the excise officials and local police, visited the area and interacted with the locals.

Later, Vishnu Kumar Raju speaking to the excise officials said as the locals are strongly objecting and there is an educational institution within 100 meters located the licence should be cancelled.

The MLA also wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Excise, Collector, Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Excise.
